Our Teaching Philosophy
We strive to create an inclusive space where everyone feels part of the community. Each lesson is rooted in equity, justice, and differentiation where each person in the space is both challenged and supported. We believe in helping students develop into well-rounded artists. Our teaching practices focus on the interplay of technique and improvisation, the balance between stability and mobility and inner connectivity with outer expressivity. Our curriculum is designed around self-expression and self-discovery, in addition to pursuing excellence in dance technique and performance skills.
Students in our classes gain a deeper understanding of the world of dance, somatics and anatomical awareness. They have the opportunity to choreograph and collaborate with others. They also learn about the connection between arts and social activism. The students in our classes receive a holistic approach, balancing the emotional and spiritual dimensions with the physical and cognitive aspects of dance and movement.
